MONMOUTH, Ore.—Olivia Boger scored twice and goalkeeper Ayanah Soon did her part on defense with seven saves as Western Oregon picked up a 3-2 women's soccer win over Northwest Nazarene on Thursday afternoon at the WOU Soccer Field.
Boger scored just seven minutes into the match and then again in the 33rd minute to put the Wolves up 2-0. It was just the second and third goals of the season for the sophomore, and her work helped WOU improve to 2-6-2 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and to 3-8-4 overall. Northwest Nazarene fell to 3-6-2 in league play and to 3-9-3 on the year.
It was Western Oregon's first win since Sept. 24.
Boger got the Wolves off and running. The first score came at 7:01 off a pass from Kate Seibert into the lower right-hand section of the net, and she hit the same spot again at 32:37, this time assisted by Maya Courtenay. The home team took that margin into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
But the Nighthawks answered right after the break. Natalie Fish scored at 46:30 to close the gap to one score. Ten minutes later, though, the Wolves added insurance off the foot of Bailey Boyd, with another assist by Courtenay to make it 3-1. It turned out WOU would need that extra goal because NNU added a tally in the 66th minute, but the Nighthawks would not find the back of the net again the rest of the way.
Shots in the match were even at 13-13, while the Idaho visitors held a 9-5 shots-on-goal advantage.
It was Boger's second brace of her young career—she also scored twice just four matches into her freshman year in 2025 against Eastern Oregon. Soon's save total of seven matches her second-highest total of the year.
Next up, the Wolves will host Central Washington on Saturday night under the lights at 7 p.m.
