$2.87 million will be provided to organizations serving Washington communities
The Washington State Department of Commerce is making 20 awards totaling $2,873,499 from the state Housing Trust Fund that will empower developers to access technical assistance and cover preconstruction costs for future affordable housing developments. Developers that are being awarded these funds work to support historically underserved communities in Washington, including:
Communities marginalized by racism or other forms of discrimination
Rural communities
Communities that have not historically accessed capital funding for affordable housing
The awards will aid organizations in preparing to successfully compete for capital funding from sources such as cities, counties, traditional bank loans, and low-income housing tax credits.
The state Legislature invested more than $728 million in the Washington State Housing Trust Fund in the 2025-2027 Capital Budget and 2026 Supplemental Budget. This funding increases the capacity of our housing partners to deliver thousands of new affordable housing units across every part of the state.
