KELSO — The Kelso team had one early comeback in it, but Prairie made sure the Hilanders didn’t have two, putting up two huge innings to win 15-5 in five innings at Rister Stadium on Wednesday.

Kelso found itself in a 3-0 hole after an inning and a half, but dropped four runs to take a slim lead heading to the third. It wouldn’t last; the Falcons pushed across six runs in the third, then scored six more in the fourth to go up by the 10 runs needed to end it after five.

Jase Schueller got one out into the fourth on the hill for Kelso and ended his night with 13 runs — 10 earned charged to his line. He gave up eight hits but walked five and hit another Falcon, facing 25 batters to get 10 outs.

Chico Huntington came in to pitch the rest of the way, giving up two more runs before getting out of the top of the fourth, and then throwing an easy fifth.

Tegan Connors led the Hilanders at the plate from the top of the lineup, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Carson Ryf added a double and drove in two runs, and Zeke Smith also went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Masyn Allson didn’t log a hit, but drew a pair of free passes and came around to score twice.

Kelso (7-6) was set to face Evergreen at Union High School on Thursday.
