COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- Brett Phillips tripled and doubled, as the Colorado Springs Sky Sox exploded for a season-high seven extra-base hits in a 7-2 win over the Round Rock Express on Monday.
Col. Springs started the scoring in the second inning when Shane Opitz hit an RBI single and Andres Blanco scored on a pickoff.
After Col. Springs added a run in the third on a double by Ji-Man Choi, the Express cut into the deficit in the fifth inning when Scott Heineman drew a bases-loaded walk, scoring Andy Ibanez.
The Sky Sox later added two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings. In the fifth, Nate Orf hit a two-run double, while Mauricio Dubon hit an RBI triple in the sixth.
Col. Springs right-hander Brandon Woodruff (2-0) picked up the win after allowing one run on five hits over 5 2/3 innings. Opposing starter David Ledbetter (0-2) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game after a rough outing in which he allowed five runs and eight hits over four innings.
Col. Springs hit a season-high five doubles in its victory.
