Kelso volleyball starts fast

The Kelso volleyball team started its season fast with a 6-0 day at the Union Jamboree on Thursday.

The Lassies beat Woodland, Prairie, Camas, Skyview, Seton Catholic and King’s Way with solid performances coming from everywhere.

AnnaLee Johnson was outstanding in service with six aces at a 93 percent clip in 45 tries. Reilee Gourd also dropped in seven aces. Ashley Noah had five aces to go with 61 assists. Bella Hadler led the team in kills with 21.

Kelso has its first official match on Monday at Mark Morris at 7 p.m.

BOYS GOLF

Skyview 168, Kelso 184: The Storm handed Kelso its first loss of the season on Thursday at Tri-Mountain Golf Course.

Riley Kirk had the low score for the Hilanders with a 43. Kaden Martin added a 46, Canyon Vader carded a 47 and Trevor Hooper scored a 48.

Kelso is back in action on Monday when it hosts Battle Ground at Three Rivers at 3 p.m.
