The weather continues to wreak havoc on playoff basketball.
The Southwest 2B District Tournaments officially announced the postponement of its championship games. Originally slated for 6 and 8 p.m. Saturday at W.F. West, they are now slated for Monday.
The WIAA extended the deadline for all district games to be completed on Monday, and district now have until 5 p.m. Monday to finalize their regional qualifiers. All four championship teams would have already qualified for the regionals.
The Southwest 2B tournaments also cancelled their consolation semifinals and seeding games. Once the final four qualifiers out of the consolation side of the bracket for the boys’ and girls’ tournaments, play will end.
This announcement came after all of Tuesday’s slate was pushed back to Wednesday, with similar times and locations. If Wednesday’s games are again postponed, the district will have to consider alternative options, Onalaska athletic director Dennis Bower noted in an email.
The West Central/Southwest 3A Bi-District Tournament administrators echoed the same sentiment late last week. Kelso’s boys are slated to host Wilson at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
1B tourney delayed again: Naselle’s boys’ and girls’ trip to Oakville to play Mary M. Knight in the Southwest 1B District Tournament was once again postponed on Monday. The Comets are now slated to play at 5 and 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Oakville.
LCC moves games up: Lower Columbia’s doubleheader with Pierce was moved to 5 and 7 p.m. at the request of the Raiders. Those games will be held at Truman Myklebust Gymnasium on Wednesday.
