Zoe Naugle hammered 18 kills, made eight blocks and served six points as Castle Rock swept Kalama 25-23, 25-8, 25-17 in a nonleague volleyball match at LeBaron Court on Thursday in Castle Rock.
Also for CR (2-0), Logann Golden had 10 kills, 13 digs and served six points, Sunni Watkins had five kills, nine service points and five digs, and freshman setter Brooke Wirkkala had 32 assists, seven digs and 15 service points.
For Kalama (1-2), Amanda Killinen had 10 digs, and Taylor Tabor added nine digs.
Woodland 3, R.A. Long 0: Emma Swett had 12 kills, two stuff blocks and eight assists as the Beavers rolled to a shutout victory in a Greater St. Helens 2A League match on Thursday at home.
Also for Woodland (3-1, 1-1 league), Taylor Foster had seven kills, four stuff blocks and four digs, Kiersten Woll had four kills, Kylie Fredricks dished 18 assists, made three digs and served two aces, and Elyse Booker made 13 digs.
For RAL (0-4, 0-2 league), McKenzie Hamer passed 71 percent on serve receive, and Kamryn Holmdahl had 75 percent serve receive.
Warrenton 3, Clatskanie 0: The Tigers dropped a 25-11, 25-15, 25-18 decision in a nonleague match on Thursday in Warrenton.
Rainier 3, Taft 1: The Columbians rolled to a 25-12, 24-26, 25-21, 25-11 win in a Coastal Range League match on Thursday in Lincoln City, Ore.
Winlock 3, North Beach 2: The Cardinals fought back from 2-0 down to win 23-26, 21-25, 25-19, 25-23, 15-10 in a home opener on Tuesday. Jenna Jones, Karlie Jones, Raychel Squibb, Kaitlynn Mitchell and Addison Hall were applauded for their play.
Kelso 0, Skyview 0: Ally Harman made 12 saves and Tally Connors did “an amazing job” in her switch to central defender as the Lassies battled to a scoreless nonleague draw in Vancouver. Connors moved from the midfield to fill-in for an injured defender and helped in the shutout. “The whole game we played good,” coach Kemal Vejo said. “At the end of the day, I’m really pleased because Skyview is a good program.”
R.A. Long 4, Woodland 0: Maddie Wolff netted two goals and dished an assist as the Lumberjill cruised to a Greater St. Helens 2A League victory on Thursday in Woodland.
RAL (4-1-0, 2-0-0 league), led 1-0 at the break after a first half unassisted goal from Sadie Allen. In the second half, Kelsey Bern scored off an assist from Wolff, Allen assisted a Wolff goal, and Wolff added an unassisted tally late in the half. RAL goalkeeper Maddie Barker had one save.
“Our defensive backs played great,” RAL coach Taylor Wallace said. “Maddie having only one save speaks to their cohesiveness. Woodland pressured the midfield throughout the first half.”
For Woodland (3-1-0, 0-1-0 league), standouts were Emersyn Finn, and Gwen Elkinton.
Hockinson 4, Mark Morris 2: A five-minute span early in the second half proved costly for the Monarchs in a Greater St. Helens 2A League setback on Thursday at Northlake Field.
“We had a five-minute period where we seemed to have lost where we were,” MM coach Eric Maxey said. “They scored three goals on us in that span.”
MM (3-1-1, 0-1-0 league), led 1-0 at the break when Chloe Harris scored off a feed from Katie Troy. The Monarchs cut their deficit to 3-2 midway through the first half on an unassisted goal from Allie Scudder, but Hockinson added a late tally.
Ilwaco 3, Montesano JV 2: Erika Glenn, Elle Personius and Sunny Kemmer each netted goals for the Fishermen in a nonleague victory on Thursday in Montesano.
Castle Rock 3, South Bend 0: Madeline DelCastillo scored twice and Myla Langdon scored a goal in the nonleague home victory. Shyann Cloke was also a standout for the Rockets.
Black Hills 156, R.A. Long 177: Kyler Cassell of Black Hills was medalist in a nonleague match on Thursday at Mint Valley.
For RAL, Noah Gilchrist had 38, Chandler Lyon 39, Easton Haglund 49, and Ian Mendenhall and Hewson Nguyen had identical rounds of 51.
Hockinson 162, Woodland 204: Hockinson’s John Dorotik was medalist with 39 in a Greater St. Helens 2A League match at The Cedars on Thursday in Vancouver.
For Woodland, Gaige Pilot had 44, Don Hitz 45, Cameron Hill 57, and AJ Yager 58.
Hoquiam 166, Kalama 222: Kalama’s Kohl Nichols led the Chinooks with a 54 on Tuesday at Highlands Golf Course. Joey Reed shot a 55. Hoquiam’s Brayden Daygon was medalist with a 38.
R.A. Long sweeps Union: Savannah Fesler had six RBIs on the day to go with a complete-game two-hitter as the Lumberjills won 9-2 and 10-8 in Vancouver.
In the opener, Fesler was 3 for 3 with four RBIs and was a single shy of the cycle. She allowed two runs in the complete game in the circle. Haylea Zimmerman played sound defense and added an RBI.
In the nightcap, Rayana Randall allowed just one earned run in a complete game and picked up two hits at the plate. Hope Childers and Myah Bodily each had two hits and Fesler had a pair of RBIs.
Mark Morris 15, Fort Vancouver 0: Maddy Mejia was 3 for 3 with six RBIs in the GSHL game at Seventh Avenue Park. Mejia had two doubles. Star Littleleaf was also 3 for 3 with two RBIs and a home run. The second game of the doubleheader was suspended due to rain in the bottom of the third inning.
