R.A. Long held on to claim a 61-54 Greater St. Helens League road win at Woodland on Wednesday, as Eastyn Reeves scored 21 points and Bobbi Clark grabbed 10 boards. Payten Foster scored 21 points with 10 rebounds on her 17th birthday for the Beavers, while Kaija Olson hit three 3’s during the second quarter to create a 26-25 halftime lead for Woodland.

The Lumberjills caught fire to open the third quarter, jumping out to a double-digit lead before the Beavers made their own run and closed the gap.

The win marks R.A. Long’s fourth consecutive victory, which have come by an average margin of 4.5 points.

“All these close games are getting kind of hard on the coaches,” Jills’ coach Jan Karnoski said with a chuckle. “We’ve had so many close games lately that the girls are feeling like they can come out on the better end of it.”

The Jills had nine turnovers, and received seven boards from Rayana Randall and six assists from Miranda Lomax.

RAL moved to 8-3, 2-1 in league, and Woodland falls to 6-4, 0-2 in league.

Clatskanie 67, Warrenton 31: Olivia Sprague netted 27 points, and Shelby Blodgett added 19 points and 18 rebounds as the Tigers picked up a Coastal Range victory in the Bryan Linn Gymnasium on Wednesday in Clatskanie. Blodgett completed a triple-double with 10 steals and six assists, and Sprague had five steals and four rebounds. “We played well defensively against a good Warrenton team,” Clatskanie coach John Blodgett said. “We did a nice job shutting down their two big scorers.” Also for the Tigers (7-3, 2-0 league), Cloee McLeod had 13 points and six rebounds, Anna Martin grabbed seven rebounds, and Kaity Sizemore added six rebounds.

Rainier 55, Taft 31: Gracie Crape tossed in 14 points, and Hannah Ferrell and Reese Schimmel added 10 points apiece as the Columbians claimed a Coastal Range League victory on Wednesday at home. “It was a really complete game for us,” Rainier coach Doug Knox said. “The girls played unselfish, all of them got good shots and played great defense.” Also for Rainier (6-4, 1-2 league), Crape had five steals, Farrell had seven steals and five assists, and Schimmel had seven rebounds, six steals and five assists.

Columbia River 59, Mark Morris 28: Mariah Bost, Lily Koski-Haase and Allie Scudder scored six points apiece as the Monarchs dropped a Greater St. Helens 2A League matchup at Ted M. Natt Court on Wednesday. MM is now 0-8, 0-2 in league.


Rainier 67, Taft 37: Conner Rea scored 13 of his game-high 30 points in the third quarter as the Columbians rolled to a Coastal Range League victory on Wednesday in Rainier. “We really exploded in the third quarter,” Rainier coach Logan Nelson said. “We outscored them 26-6 in the period.” Also for Rainier (6-4, 3-0 league), Kenney Tripp had 10 points, and Easton Crape grabbed nine rebounds.

Clatskanie 65, Warrenton 50: Dawson Evenson, J’kari Combs and Andre’ Combs combined to nearly outscore the entire Warrenton roster in a Coastal Range League victory in the Bryan Linn Gymnasium on Wednesday in Clatskanie. Evenson finished with 18 points, J’kari Combs had 16 points, and Andre’ Combs added 14 points as the Tigers moved to 6-4, 2-0 in league play.

Ilwaco 73, Ocosta 67 (OT): The Fishermen took home a Pacific 2B League road win Wednesday after seeing a career-high 32 points from Reese Tynkila along with eight rebounds. Parker Kaech also shut down Ocosta’s leading scorer during the second half, Cole Hatton finished with 17 points, scoring 16 in the first half.
