Toutle Lake prevailed 3-0 over Napavine with an extended third set in a Central 2B League volleyball match on Tuesday in Toutle.

Set scores for the Ducks (4-3, 2-1 league) were 25-15, 25-18, 33-31.

“I’m proud of the girls to keep going in the third set,” TL coach Don Merzoian said. “They didn’t want to give in, and they had to fight a little harder.”

Kaylee Florek paced TL with 10 kills, Marissa Smith had nine and Molly Donald eight. Sienna Rudd had 19 assists, Taylor Gould dished 16 assists, and Casey Wentz had 12 digs.

Merzoian praised the play of freshman outside hitter Jordyn Grabenhorst, who had six kills and six digs in replacing Nikarra Smith, who was out with an injury.

Woodland 3, Hockinson 0: Emma Swett had 12 kills, 10 digs, eight assists, two aces and a stuff block in the Beavers’ sweep in Greater St. Helens 2A League play on Tuesday in Woodland. Set scores for the Beavers (7-1, 5-1 league) were 25-20, 25-17, 25-14.

Taylor Foster added 12 kills and four stuff blocks, Olivia Andersen and Kyley Storie had two kills and two stuff blocks apiece, Nicole Guthrie had 19 assists and a stuff block, and Elyse Booker had 19 digs.

Kalama 3, Winlock 0: Kapio Wetmore paced the Chinooks with 11 kills in a Central 2B League sweep at Virgil Simmons Court. Set scores for Kalama (5-4, 3-0 league) were 25-13, 25-14, 25-5.

Marlee Vickers added six kills and served 20 points, and Amanda Killinen dished 24 assists.

Three Rivers Christian 3, Columbia Adventist 0: Chantelle Isaacson drilled 12 kills as the Eagles swept a Columbia Valley 1B League match on Tuesday in Vancouver. Set scores for TRC (4-3, 2-0 league) were 25-20, 25-15, 25-20.

Zowie Carmody added six kills, Pervie Reed served three aces and was praised for her defense, as was Abbey McCracken and Isabelle Jones.

Mossyrock 3, Wahkiakum 0: The Mules dropped a 25-17, 25-20, 25-13 decision in a Central 2B League match on Tuesday in Cathlamet.

Standouts for Wahkiakum (1-3, 1-1 league) were Solana Stanley (defense), and Jordyn Keithley-Watson and Mckensi Fluckiger (100 percent serving).

Castle Rock 3, White Salmon 0: Ranae Holter tallied 39 assists while Logann Golden added 14 digs and 13 kills in the Rockets’ Trico 1A League home win over White Salmon on Tuesday. Zoe Naugle had 14 kills and four blocks, while Sunni Watkins finished with 11 kills.


Kelso 9, Fort Vancouver 0: The Lassies won their Greater St. Helens League 3A at home Tuesday with five goals scored in the first 26 minutes. Brianna McWain scored in the third minute, then assisted on the next two, Carson Thompson-Terrel scored in the fourth minute and Matisyn Ohlson in the 16th minute.

Grace Forster added another in the 22nd minute, and Natalie Chavez four minutes later. Tally Connors scored the next two, in the 41st and 55th minutes, before Ohlson scored in the 59th minute and Emma Swanson put one through in the 65th minute.


Toutle meet: Kalama claimed the boys’ and girls’ team titles at the five-team meet held Tuesday in Toutle.

Kalama had 37 points in the boys’ race, followed by Mossyrock with 49 and Toutle Lake with 68. Wahkiakum ran incomplete.

Kalama’s Rylan Green was third on the 5,000-meter course in 18 minutes, 27.76 seconds, followed by Addison Smee (seventh, 19:11.21), Abram Foreman (eighth, 19:11.47), Isaac Lozier (ninth, 19:24.21), and Ian Kisamore (10th, 19:32.72).

TL’s Henry Foultner was second in 17:31.9, followed by John Nicholson (sixth, 18:54.76) and William Foultner (14th, 20:01.49).

Wahkiakum’s Jamil Dimaano was 21st in 21:05.47, and Leif Carroll was 30th in 22:40.95.

In the girls’ race, Kalama had 15 points, with TL and Wahkiakum incomplete.

Kalama’s Matti Olson was fourth in 24:07.69, followed by Alicia Tinoco (fifth, 25:39.55), Tia Burpee (12th, 31:38.51), Sadie Wall (15th, 33:33.88), and Elizabeth Green (17th, 37:12.75).

TL’s Meleah Kandoll was second in 21:11.21 and Darla Kandoll was third in 21:38.6.

Wahkiakum’s Kimberlee Watkins was 11th in 30:58.2, and Alexzandria Watkins was 13th in 32:21.26.

Rainier, Wash. meet: Toledo’s Nicholas Marty won the boys’ race in a five-team held Tuesday in Rainier, Wash.

Ocosta won the boys’ team title with 51, followed by Morton/White Pass with 52. Toledo was fourth with 81.

Marty completed the 5-kilometer run in 18 minutes, 28.08 seconds, followed by Jonathon Cisneros (15th, 20:35.21), Jacob Butcher (20th, 21:14.81), Riley Frye (25th, 21:34.8), and Jeremy Cook (26th, 21:47.07).

Rainier, Wash. won the girls’ race with 18 points. Adna was second with 57, and Toledo third with 59.

Freshman Greenlee Clark led Toledo in eighth place in 23:32.01, followed by Heather Fenison (13th, 25:08.92), Ashley White (14th, 25:09.79) and Andrea Jones (26th, 28:36.47).


Mark Morris 9, Columbia River 1: Star Littleleaf was 3-4 with two runs scored as the Monarchs cruised to a Greater St. Helens League victory on Tuesday in Hazel Dell.

Also for MM, Mackynzee Powell was 2-3 with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored, and Kaitlynn Westerby was 3-4 with three RBIs.
