Castle Rock trailed only Union in its home wrestling invitational on Saturday. Wayne Baker (160 pounds) and Peyton Watts (195) had wins.
Cam Wason finished second at 138 pounds, and Austin McQuilliams placed second at 170. Noel Perez (195), Dakota Gottscahlk (182), Buddy Kaiser (152) and Ryan Marcil (126) placed third. Jayden Nelson (113), and Jett Johnson (220) finished fifth.
W.F. West Invite: Owen Enriquez placed second at 152 pounds, and Ian Johnson and Eric Howard finished third at 195 and 285, respectively on Saturday.
Skyler Robeson (113) and Gavin Yates (106) finished fourth for R.A. Long.
BOYS BASKETBALL
La Center 91, Castle Rock 57: Connor Edwards scored 31 points but the Rockets fell in Trico 1A League play. Coleman Guerrero added 11 rebounds and five assists and Landon Garnder had 13 points. “I’m extremely proud of the guys,” coach Hayden Tilton said. “The score may not reflect it bu the energy and effort was phenomenal.”
Woodland 56, Washougal 47: Tyler Flanagan finished with 16 points and Alex Bishop added 18 points in the Greater St. Helens 2A League victory on Saturday. Isaac Hall added 16 rebounds and Jackson Finn was lauded for his effort.
Naselle 67, Wahkiakum 50: The Comets took home the KM Mountain trophy behind14 points from Ethan Lindstrom and 13 from Corey Gregory. Luke Brown had 14 points and 120 rebounds for Wahkiakum. “It was a good, competitive game from start to finish,” coach Todd Souvenir said. “Naselle is a good team and can definitely get up in your face on defense and put pressure on the ball.”
Ridgefield 45, R.A. Long 44: Jacob Thompson had 12 points and eight rebounds in the Greater St. Helens 2A Leagu defeat on Saturday. Cameron Holden added 10 points and Jamond Harris had eight points.
COLLEGE BASKETBALL
Lower Columbia 117, Multnomah JV: Seven Red Devils scored in double figures as LCC rolled to the victory on Saturday at Myklebust Gymnasium. Dwayne Stewart had 18 points, Samaad Hector finished with 16 points and 21 rebounds and Cody Young tallied 15 points and five assists.
Martis Johnson and Devonte Dennis each had 14 points and seven assists, Travis Patrick had 12 points and seven rebounds and Louden Wardius had 10 points. Bricin Ford tallied 12 rebounds for the Devils, which shot 56.2 percent from the field (50-89).
