Three-time state champion and two-time district champion Brooklyn Boudreau was named the Greater St. Helens 2A League Bowler of the Year after a recent vote of league coaches.

R.A. Long’s Brian Wilson shared Coach of the Year honors with Logan Burnet of Columbia River.

Named to the league’s first-team were RAL’s Precious Sprague, Iris Keck and Brooke Thill, and MM’s Madie Flint. Placing on the second-team were RAL’s Kylee Newman, and MM’s Hailee Reynolds, Hailey Harris and Alexa Mejia.

GSHL 3A Girls All-League Basketball: Kelso’s Alexis Kleven and Natalie Fraley were named to the Greater St. Helens 3A League team after a recent vote of league coaches.

Kleven, who averaged 11.4 points per game, was named to the first team. Fraley, who averaged 9.5 points, was placed on the second team.

Prairie’s Brooke Walling and Cassidy Gardner were named the league’s co-Players of the Year. Michael Rainville of Hudson’s Bay was selected the league’s Coach of the Year.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Mark Morris 65, Ridgefield 35: Rarey Sommer had 18 points and Jack Shipley added 16 as the Monarchs won a Greater St. Helens 2A League game on Tuesday in Ridgefield. MM (13-7, 9-3 league) is the No. 2 seed from the GSHL 2A in the Southwest 2A District Championships. They host an opponent to be determined on Saturday. Also for the Monarchs, Reece Gibb tossed in 10 points. “Very solid 32 minutes at both ends of the court,” coach Bill Bakamus said. “Defensively, we created turnovers and got some easy transition baskets.”

Clatskanie 52, Taft 47: J’kari Combs netted 14 points, and Andre Combs added 12 as the Tigers claimed a Coastal Range League victory on Tuesday in Lincoln City. “It came down to Cooper making a steal which kept us in the game,” Clatskanie coach Deshaun Combs said. “J’kari also made some free throws at the end.” Clatskanie is now 12-7, 8-2 in league.

Winlock 57, Ocosta 50: Bryce Cline scored 21 points and created some big runs in the Cardinals’ Southwest 2B District Tournament road win Tuesday. “We had one of the best first halves of the season, we did everything we wanted to do,” coach Nick Bamer said. “I think in the first half we locked in and executed so well that it put us in position to win.”

Winlock was up 27-15 at halftime, but Ocosta came back to within two points before Cline stole the ball and took it the other way for a layup, igniting a Cardinals run. Noah Patching was 7 for 8 from the line during the fourth quarter, and the Cardinals “did a great job of finishing,” Bamer said. Winlock will face Adna in Rochester on Thursday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Clatskanie 67, Taft 24: Shelby Blodgett had a triple-double with 28 points, 18 rebounds and 11 steals as the Tigers rolled to a Coastal League victory on Tuesday in Lincoln City. Blodgett also had three assists and blocked three shots. Also for Clatskanie (15-4, 10-0 league), Olivia Sprague had 19 points, nine rebounds, six assists and three steals, and Alexis Smith added 10 points.

Mossyrock 57, Toutle Lake 32: The Ducks were outscored 27-11 in the second half of a Southwest 2B District Tournament game on Tuesday in Mossyrock. TL ends its season 3-16. No additional game details were available.
