Kelso’s Ally Harman and Evergreen’s Jasmine Tiaita shared Field Athlete of the Year honors in Greater St. Helens 3A League girls’ track after a recent vote of league coaches.

Named to the first-team for Kelso were Erin Tack (javelin), and Natalie Fraley (high jump, pole vault).

Placing on the league’s second-team were Harman (shot put, discus, javelin), Tally Connors (100, pole vault), and Alexis Kleven (triple jump).

Mountain View’s Katie Kadrmas was named the league’s Track Athlete of the Year, and Phoebe Miletich of Hudson’s Bay was named Coach of the Year.

Kelso has four first-teamers: Four Kelso Hilanders were named to the Greater St. Helens 3A League first-team in boys’ track after a vote of league coaches.

Eli Keithley was named in the 400, Josiah Fisher in the shot put, Todd Johanson in the discus, and Drew Tack in the javelin.

Named to the second-team was Colten Jorgenson in the 1600.

Nolan Mickenham of Prairie was named the league’s Track Athlete of the Year, and Prairie’s Darius Dancel and Evegreen’s Brandon Abt shared Field Athlete of the Year honors. Tom Petersen of Hudson’s Bay was named Coach of the Year.

BASEBALL

Hilander Dental goes 4-0: The Hilander Dental Senior American Legion baseball team completed a perfect 4-0 week with a doubleheader sweep of RBI Baseball on Sunday at R.A. Long.

Hilander won the opener against RBI 21-4, and took the nightcap 6-5.

In the opener, Luke Roth slapped a three-run double, and Jake Morrow and Tyler Reece added an RBI double apiece. Kaleb Edwards pitched scoreless relief for the win. In the nightcap, Dawson Evenson had two doubles and two RBIs, Noah Jenkins hit a two-run double, Morrow was 2-4, and Reed Elo and Mitchell Bergquist each hit a double. Dylan Rush tossed scoreless relief for the win.

On Thursday, Hilander Dental pounded KWRL 13-1. Morrow was 2-2 with three RBIs, Luke Brown was 2-3 and scored three runs, and Evenson was 2-4 with two RBIs. Jenkins and Zach Vetter combined to pitch the victory.

On Wednesday, Hilander Dental slipped past the Vancouver Cardinals Senior Babe Ruth team 6-4 at Clark College in Vancouver.

Brown had a double and scored twice, with Reece and Cade Warren each hitting an RBI single. Rush pitched 4 2/3 innings of shutout relief with five strikeouts and one walk.
