Aug. 31: Woodland 48, Kalama 40

After falling behind 41-14 in the first 24 minutes of their title-defense season, Alex Dyer and Sutton Moon gave impassioned halftime speeches and the Chinooks nearly mounted a second-half comeback. Dyer found seven different receivers and four TDs in the second half and almost overcame improbable odds in the season opener.

Sept. 7: Kalama 20, Napavine 13

The Chinooks tallied 356 yards as Dyer hit six receivers for 239 yards on 15-32 passing and two scores. Brennon Vance led the team with four catches and 78 yards as the Chinooks held off the Tigers.

Sept. 14: Adna 27, Kalama 17

After taking a 17-6 lead, Dyer was pulled after a neck injury. The Pirates rallied, and scored 17 unanswered points to push the Chinooks to 1-2.

Sept. 21: Kalama 14, La Center 7

With Dyer resting an extra week, backup quarterback Brayden Libby led the Chinooks to a narrow win. Libby connected with Vance on a 10-yard fade to the end zone, after a 60-yard trick play set it up.

Sept. 28: Kalama 62, Winlock 8

Dyer returned from injury to throw four touchdowns while completing 15 of 18 passes for 316 yards as Kalama improved to 3-2 and captured the division opener.

Oct. 5: Kalama 32, Toledo 13

Dyer went 15 of 28 for 215 yards and a pair of touchdowns to each Vance and Jackson Esary, who had a breakout night in the important River Division win.

Oct. 12: Kalama 67, Mossyrock 7

The Chinooks had no troubles in rolling the shorthanded Vikings’ team in the River Division victory.

Oct. 19: Kalama 55, Wahkiakum 0

Brennon Vance caught four touchdown passes and ran for a score as Kalama claimed sealed their second straight River Division title.

Oct. 26: Kalama 56, Toutle Lake 0

Bradey Vance rushed six times for 134 yards and two touchdowns as the third-ranked Chinooks closed River Division play.

Nov. 1: Kalama 55, Morton/White Pass 0

Kalama ran a jet sweep to the right on the first play, and Brennon Vance went 65 yards for a touchdown. The Chinooks never looked back and won their Southwest 2B League district crossover.

Nov. 10: Kalama 62, Liberty Christian 6

In the first 12 minutes alone, Dyer had two defensive interceptions and Vance and Max Ross each added another. The Chinooks ended with eight interceptions in a state first-round beatdown.

Nov. 17: Kalama 31, Northwest Christian 6

Brennon Vance scored a pair of early touchdowns and the Chinooks’ high-octane attack lifted them to the state quarterfinal victory.

Nov. 24: Kalama 47, Toledo 27

The Chinooks used a dominant third quarter, and forced seven turnovers in a lopsided state semifinal win over their River Division rival.

Nov. 30: Kalama 34, Napavine 25

Dyer hit five different receivers multiple times and threw for 317 yards and three touchdowns on 18-29 passing and Vance rushed for 123 yards, and tallied two scores as the Chinooks finished 12-2, and captured another 2B State Championship.
