Woodland Baseball vs. Hockinson

Woodland managed only two hits, but the Beavers took advantage of four Hockinson errors to claim a 4-2 victory in Greater St. Helens 2A League baseball on Thursday in Woodland.

The Beavers (8-11, 4-7 league) scored three runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by a sacrifice fly from Travis Pitner, a passed ball and a Hockinson error.

Reid Hope and Brady Burns were each 1-2, and Daniel Blottenberger added an RBI.

Wyatt Wooden allowed an earned run on five hits and struck out eight in the complete-game win.

Columbia River 2, Mark Morris 1: The Monarchs were held to three hits in a Greater St. Helens 2A League contest on Thursday at home.

Noah Mejia had a hit and an RBI, and Brayden Harris and Peyton Williamson added a single apiece. Noah Jenkins allowed two earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts through six innings, and Trystan Brown added a hitless inning of relief with a strikeout.

MM is now 4-14 overall, 3-9 in league play.


Comets sweep Wishkah: Lily Harman hit a combined 7-9 as Naselle picked up both ends of a Coastal 1B League doubleheader on Thursday in Aberdeen.

Naselle won the opener 18-5 in six innings, and took the second game 18-3 in five innings.

In the opener, the Comets had 21 hits. Harman was 4-5 with a double, four RBIs and three runs scored, Courtney Paul was 3-5 with five RBIs, and Kylee Tarabochia was 3-4 with a double and scored three runs. Peyton Dalton was 2-4 with three runs and four RBIs, Brynn Tarabochia was 2-5 with four runs, Hollie Haataia was 2-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs, and Hailey Weston and Mia Watson had two hits apiece. Brynn Tarabochia allowed one earned run, four hits, walked five batters and struck out seven in the win.

In the nightcap, Haataia was 4-4 with two RBIs and three runs, Kenzie Glenn was 3-4 with a double and three runs, and Paul was 3-4 with three RBIs and two runs. Harman was 3-4 with three runs, Watson was 2-2 with two runs and two RBIs, Brynn Tarabochia was 2-4 with two runs, Weston had three RBIs, and Kylee Tarabochia scored twice.

Brynn Tarabochia scattered five hits and struck out six in the win.

On Tuesday, Naselle turned away Taholah 21-0 in three innings. Watson was 2-2 with three runs and an RBI, Brynn Tarabochia had a double, two runs and an RBI, Taylor Gudmundsen added a double and scored three runs, and Kylee Tarabochia had two RBIs and three runs. Weston had two RBIs and two runs, Glenn scored three runs, and Paul and Haataia scored two runs apiece.

Paul pitched the win, allowing a hit and striking out two.


Trico League Meet at Seton Catholic: Castle Rock’s Brooke Wirkkala won four individual events in leading the Rockets to victory in a five-team meet in Thursday in Vancouver.

CR won the girls’ meet with 159 points, followed by White Salmon with 125.

Wirkkala won the high jump (5-feet), long jump (16-6 ½), triple jump (32-9), and 100 hurdles (17.13). Amy Blodgett won the 800 in 2:51.03, and Veda Frost claimed the javelin with a throw of 85-9.

White Salmon won the boys’ meet with 170, followed by Seton Catholic at 159.4, and Castle Rock in third with 116.

For the Rockets, Wyatt Partridge won the 100 (11.64), 200 (23.96), and joined Brady Bach, Noah Botten and Seth Werly on the top 4x100 relay in 45.96. Lance Wirkkala won the triple jump at 38-2 ¾, and Jeran Keogh took the 800 in 2:09.06.

Napavine Meet: Winlock boys won five events in a six-team Central 2B League meet on Thursday in Napavine.

Adna won the boys’ team crown with 148, followed by Winlock with 91. Toledo was third with 88, and Wahkiakum finished sixth with 20.

Winners for Winlock were Coleson Richendollar (400, 55.46), Noah Patching (800, 2:09.09), Sam Howsden (1600, 5:18.46) and Bryce Cline (high jump, 6-0). The 4x400 relay of Cline, Logan Hall, Patching and Richendollar won in 3:56.48.

Toledo’s winner was Cody Harris in the 3200 in 12:22.66.

Wahkiakum had no winners. Placing third were Jamil Dimaano in the 200 in 24.61, and Tucker Thomas in the 3200 in 13:15.11.

Napavine won the girls’ meet with 132 points, followed by Mossyrock with 106. Wahkiakum was fourth with 77, Toledo placed fifth with 68, and Winlock was sixth with 13.

Wahkiakum’s Jansi Merz won the discus with a toss of 96-9, and teamed with Ellie Leitz, Teylor Sauer and Megan Leitz to win the 4x400 relay in 4:50.13.

Toledo’s winner was Ashley White in the 1600 in 6:49.21.

Winlock had no winners. Azhia Camps was third in the discus in 80-5 ½.

Morton/White Pass Meet: Kalama’s Melanie Martinez won two events and was part of two winning relays in a five-team Central 2B League meet on Thursday in Randle.

Kalama won the girls’ meet with 112 points, followed by Rainier, Wash., with 105.5. Toutle Lake was fourth with 13.5.

Martinez won the 100 (13.16), 200 (26.44), teamed with Brooke Milohov, Alexys Wetmore and Kailey Shipley on the top 4x100 relay (53.14), and joined Kapio Wetmore, Shipley and Milohov on the winning 4x200 relay in 1:52.14. Also winning for Kalama were Milohov (long jump, 14-5 ¼), Briannan Abbott (800, 2:39.84), Cynthia Peak (javelin, 96-08), Bethany Lozier (pole vault, 7-feet), and Ruby Jackson (triple jump, 31-1 ¾).

TL had no winners. Marissa Smith was second in the triple jump at 30-1, and Riley Walsh finished third in the discus at 76-4 ½.

Kalama won the boys’ meet with 110.5 points, followed by Morton/White Pass with 99.5, Toutle Lake was fifth with 14.

Winners for Kalama were Ryan Green (3200, 11:29.15; triple jump, 38-10 ½), Abram Foreman (800, 2:23.37), Richard Beverage (110 hurdles, 16.71), and Jonah Lucente (high jump, 6-feet).

TL had no winners. Placing second were Griffin Sauters in the discus (107-6), and Chase Lynn in the long jump (18-5 ½).

Naselle Meet: Naselle’s Echo Cenci and Lilli Zimmerman were double-winners in a six-team meet held on Thursday in Naselle.

Naselle edged Ilwaco 156-155 to win the girls’ meet.

Cenci won the 400 (1:03.38) and 100 hurdles (18.64), and Zimmerman was tops in the shot put (31-feet) and high jump (4-6). Also winning for the Comets were Grace Hunt (1600, 6:35.45), Ellie Miller (discus, 86-1), Emma Colombo (javelin, 95-8), and Sophie Scrabeck (pole vault, 7-6).

Ilwaco’s Erika Glenn won the triple jump (34-1), 200 (27.62), and teamed with Tiana Ramsey, Abby Knopski and Estella Sheldon to win the 4x400 relay in 4:31.52. Also winning were Knopski in the long jump (14-3 ¾), Carli Kemmer in the 3200 (13:52.18), the 4x100 relay of Tazlina Thomas, Elle Personius, Knopski and Ramsey (54.42), and the 4x200 relay of Personius, Nisa Mendoza, Alyssa Marsh and Ramsey in 1:58.16.

In the boys’ meet, Naselle won with 126 points, followed by Ilwaco with 114.

Winners for Naselle were Josh Chadwick (110 hurdles, 19.25), Cody Condon (pole vault, 11-feet), the 4x100 relay of Corey Gregory, Faaoso Tutu’u, Condon and Antonio Nolan (47.03), and the 4x400 relay of Nolan, Monte Schell, Jacob Eaton and Gregory (3:57.19).

Ilwaco winners were Alex Kaino (100, 11.69; 300 hurdles, 40.23), Tristan Trudell (800, 2:15.77; 1600, 4:59.82), Colton McNabb (200, 24.78), and Logan Roush (400, 53.33).


R.A. Long 201, Mark Morris 221: Josie Nickerson paced the Lumberjills with a medal round of 42 in a Greater St. Helens 2A League win on Thursday at Mint Valley.

Also for RAL, Piper Nguyen had a 49, Mary Knowles had a 55, and Kobey Roberts added 56.

For MM, Clarissa Escudaro carded a 53, Cassie Catlin fired a 54, Mariah Fleckenstein added a 56, and Valorie Worden had a 60.

Woodland 203, Ridgefield 211: Abby Bozarth carded a medal round of 42 to lift the Beavers to a Greater St. Helens 2A League win on Thursday at Lewis River.

Also for Woodland, Rayleah Trice carded a 47, Erin Madsen had a 55, and Zoe Jouwsma added a 59.


Castle Rock 3, Three Rivers Christian 2: The Rockets won at third singles and both doubles matches in a Southwest 1A League contest on Thursday at John Null Park.

For CR (9-2, 7-0 league), Grace Pelletier won 6-0, 6-2. Paige Mershon and Erica Thwaites won first doubles 6-4, 6-4, and Hanna Lair and Megan Keeling took second doubles 6-0, 6-0.

For TRC (3-3, 2-3 league), Bailee Wallace won first singles 7-5, 6-4, and Mabrie Richards won second doubles 7-5, 6-2.
