Cassie Thompson had 13 kills, served five aces and made nine digs as the Lower Columbia College Red Devils swept Green River in the NWAC West Region volleyball regular-season finale for both teams on Wednesday at Myklebust Gymnasium.

Set scores for the Red Devils (27-8, 10-4 region) were 25-9, 25-7, 25-9. LCC plays Shoreline in the opening round of the NWAC Volleyball Championships at 9 a.m. Nov. 15 at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center. The tournament concludes with the championship match on Nov. 18.

LCC hit .455 as a team, while holding Green River to minus -.099.

Ashlynn Cantwell added nine kills and eight digs, Megan Miller had eight kills, three aces, and three block assists, and Maddie Stimmel had six kills. Desarae Reab had four kills and two solo blocks, Macey Wright dished 38 assists, served two aces and had eight digs, Haley Paul made 10 digs, and Karlie Hall served three aces.


Greater St. Helens 3A League: Kelso’s Allie Gaston was named a first-team middle blocker after a recent vote of league coaches.

Placing on the second-team was Ashley McGhee and utility player Ashley Noah, and earning honorable mention kudos were Bella Hadaller and Ava Nichols.

Prairie’s Katie Vroman was named the league’s MVP, and Rachael Howington of Mountain View was selected Coach of the Year.

Columbia Valley 1B League: Naselle’s Taylor Gudmundson was named co-Most Valuable Player after a recent balloting of league coaches.

Also placing on the all-league team from Naselle were Holly Disch, Jackie Steenerson, Sophie Scrabeck, and Kenzie Glenn. All-leaguers from Three Rivers Christian are Zowie Carmody, Mabrie Richards, and Chantelle Isaacson.

Naselle’s Lily Harman placed on the honorable mention team.

Firm Foundation’s Katie Kogler was named the league’s co-MVP, and John Stevens was selected Coach of the Year.
