Kelso's Anna Waddell swims the breaststroke leg in the Lassies' fifth-place 200 medley relay team at the Kelso Invite on Saturday. Joining Waddell on the team, which clocked in at 2 minutes, 14.7 seconds, was Genna Aldrich, Emily Russell and Shayla Kazensky. For full results, please see C2. 

Kelso’s girls’ swim team finished third with 328 points at its home invitational on Saturday at Gaither Pool. Mark Morris finished fifth with 294 points.

Leading Kelso was Genna Aldrich, who finished third in the 100 butterfly (1 minute, 11.67 seconds) and helped the 200 medley relay team of Anna Waddell, Emily Russell and Shayla Kazensky to a fifth-place finish (2:14.70) and the 200 freestyle relay team of Kazensky, Chloe Hause and Carli Williams to a sixth-place finish (2:01.58).

Russell also finished seventh in the 200 freestyle (2:23.08) and helped the 400 freestyle relay of Waddell, Hause and Kazensky to a fourth-place finish (4:27.86). Waddell added an eighth-place finish in the 200 IM (2:42.16). Hause finished seventh in the 100 butterfly (1:24.36), and Williams placed fourth in the 500 freestyle (6:47.42).

For Mark Morris, Alyssa Davis finished third in the 500 freestyle (6:17.83), fifth in the 100 backstroke (1:10.05) and helped the 200 freestyle relay team of Maddy Schreier, Cara Kittelson and Mariah Roseman to a seventh-place finish (2:02.21). She also was on the sixth-place 400 freestyle relay team of the same composition, which clocked a 4:34.88. Kittelson also finished sixth in the 100 butterfly (1:23.28).

New district qualifying times for the Monarchs included Davis in the 100 backstroke, and Kittelson in the 100 IM.

CROSS COUNTRY

Albany Harrier Classic: Woodland’s boys finished 26th in the 47-team meet at Bryant Park in Albany, Ore.

Tuff Biddix finished 82nd in the 15th annual 5,000-meter race, clocking a 17 minute, 48.46-second mark. He was followed by Parker Owen in 83rd, who timed a 17:48.81.

Woodland only had one girl run in the varsity race, as Lauren Kaiser placed 127th, timing a 22:53.18.

Bill Kehoe South Sound Invite: Kalama’s Addison Smee finished sixth in the 5,000-meter race at Saint Martin’s University, leading the Chinook boys to a 15th-place finish in the 30-team race. Smee clocked a 16:15.3. Isaac Lozier followed with a 46th-place finish, recording a 17:37.7.

Ilwaco’s boys, which placed 21st, were paced by Daniel Whiting, who finished 59th in 17:56.7, and Tristan Trudell, who came in 78th with a 18:19.3.

On the girls’ side, Ilwaco finished 16th led by a 65th-place finish from Estella Sheldon (22:46.7) and an 83rd-place finish by Emma Brundage (23:28.5). Kalama’s Alicia Tinoco was 119th (25:09.2).

Harvest Classic: Rainier’s boys won the 5,000-meter race in Longview on Saturday with 56 points, closely followed by Three Rivers Christian, which had 64 points.

But it was Toledo’s Nicholas Marty winning the seven-team event, clocking a 16:30.7. TRC’s Ryan Ransom followed in second with a 16:42.8, Toutle Lake’s Henry Foultner was third (17:07.5) and Rainier’s Thomas Souther was fourth (17:24.8).

Also on Rainier’s winning team was Jaedan Abel (ninth, 18:13.5), Cade Carter (10th, 18:14.9), Brennan Thompkins (16th, 18:36.3) and Ian Tompkins (17th, 18:40.2). Helping TRC was Dennis Lin (12th, 18:20.1) and Kyler Davis (18:22.3)

Toutle Lake’s William Foultner was 21st (19:01.4) and Toledo’s Jonathon Cisneros was 27th (19:30.8).

For the girls, Rainier finished second as a team, but Meleah Kandoll and Darla Kandoll went 1-2 atop the race. Meleah clocked a 19:44.3 and Darla a 19:51.8.

Rainier’s Chloe Crawford paced the Columbians with a third-place finish (20:42.3), and Sydney Crawford was eighth (22:55.6). Toledo’s Ashley White was ninth (23:54.9).
