Winlock is having one of its best seasons in quite awhile.
The success continued Wednesday with a 69-42 Central 2B League road win over Rainier that included five players scoring in double figures.
Nicholas Patching (15 points), Bryce Cline (13), Dawson Hall (12), Carter Whitehead (11) and Jayce Coleman (10) all had solid nights shooting.
“We’re pretty balanced, we have a lot of kids who put time in,” coach Nick Bamer said. “Las year we would have celebrated this like the Super Bowl, but tonight we just talked about it.”
Winlock (5-3 league, 8-3 overall) hasn’t won against top-tier league competition this season, but gets their chance Friday night as they host Napavine.
“We’re due to beat somebody,” Bamer said. “Hopefully that day will come soon.”
Napavine 70, Toutle Lake 67: The Ducks went tit for tat with Napavine but finished with a Central 2B League road loss Wednesday. Nate Hoff and Michael Adams scored 21 points each and Cam Swanson added 15.
“It was a good game,” coach Eric Swanson said. “It was high intensity, the energy level was way up. We just came out a little short.”
Toutle Lake (6-2 league, 10-2 overall) hosts Adna Friday night.
Adna 69, Kalama 35: The Pirates sunk four threes in their 26-point first quarter, leaving Kalama with a Central 2B League road loss Wednesday. Alex Dyer scored 11 points and Tommy Brandenburg added seven. The pillaged Chinooks (3-5 league, 5-7 overall) host Pe Ell on Friday.
Wahkiakum 44, Onalaska 42: The Mules took down a Central 2B League road win Wednesday, highlighted by a Zach Brown double-double. With 10 points and 10 rebounds, Brown kept Wahkiakum in the game despite an Onalaska comeback bid that was just barely late. Luke Brown added 15 points and Logan LaBerge scored five points.
The Mules (3-5 league, 3-6 overall) host Rainier (Wash.) Friday.
Toledo 70, Pe Ell 38: Toledo should retain their top spot in the WIAA RPI rankings after their Central 2B League road win Wednesday. Reece Wallace (17 points) knocked down three from beyond the perimeter in the first quarter, though all 11 players scored. Toledo (7-1 league, 10-2 overall) hosts Morton-White Pass Friday.
R.A. Long 1838, Ridgefield 1302: Seaira Hazeltine finished with a team-high 345 in the Lumberjills win at Hazel Dell Lanes Wednesday. Eby Bernard also had a good day, rolling a 338.
Kelso 65, Evergreen 6: Kelso dealt with eight Evergreen forfeits, but those that did wrestle didn’t falter. Christian Freund (145) won 10-2, A.J. Hoggatt (195) won 15-5, and McKinley Franklin (285) won 5-0.
Ashley McGhee won by fall on the girls side, while the JV squad also found success. Jovani Jimenez (126) won 15-0, Jake Fowler (126) and Shale Webb (145) won by pin, while Nate Miller (195) won by fall.
Lower Columbia 83, Green River 66: The Red Devils outscored Green River 37-22 in the first half, and rolled to a big road victory Wednesday. Spencer Sweet scored 25 points and Brandon Cotton added 13 points. LCC will play at Centralia on Saturday.
