Castle Rock-Stevenson Football

Castle Rock took a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter, only to give up 27 unanswered points in a 27-14 Trico League setback to Stevenson on Friday at Rocket Stadium.

“We did a great job putting pressure on their quarterback,” CR coach Aaron Gehring said. “We had some key mistakes and three turnovers. We had three turnovers all season coming into the game.”

CR (2-5, 1-2 league) rushed for 119 of its 181 total yards, while allowing the Bulldogs to pass for 198 of their 293 total yards. Caleb Mullen completed 10-22 passes for 62 yards, including a 10-yard TD pass to Seth Werly. Wyatt Partridge rushed 18 times for 85 yards, including a 36-yard scoring gallop.

Defensively, Landon Gardner had 8 ½ tackles and two quarterback sacks, Coleman Guerrero had six tackles, and Peyton Watts added 5 ½.

The Rockets host Seton Catholic on Friday.

Naselle 82, Darrington 22: Cole Dorman passed for six touchdowns and ran for another as the Comets steamrolled their way to a Northwest 1B League victory on Friday in Darrington.

Naselle (6-1, 4-0 league) led 22-8 after the first quarter, and 68-22 entering the fourth period.

Dorman completed 19 of 24 passes for 297 yards, including scoring strikes of 36 and 40 yards to Antonio Nolan, 20 yards to Fa’aoso Tutu’u, 49 and 7 yards to Ethan Lindstrom, and 6 yards to Josh Townsen. Nolan caught three passes for 81 yards, Townsen had two catches for 68 yards, and Jacob Eaton had two catches for 41 yards. Tutu’u hauled in two pases for 30 yards, and Lindstrom caught four for 56 yards.

On the ground, Nolan had six carries for 69 yards including TD gallops of 19 and 32 yards, Tutu’u had two carries for 30 yards including a 19-yard run, Dorman ran twice for 24 yards including a 4-yard TD jaunt, and Jimmy Strange had a 31-yard TD jaunt.

Defensively, Vince Fauver had 11 tackles, Eaton and Tutu’u had eight tackles apiece, and Strange had six tackles and recovered a fumble.

Naselle hosts Lummi on Friday.

Winlock 41, Toutle Lake 27: Winlock wrapped up its first playoff appearance since 2010 with a hard-fought victory at Homecoming in Southwest 2B River play on Friday in Winlock.

After a scoreless first quarter, Winlock (3-4, 2-1 league) and Toutle Lake (0-7, 0-3) scored two touchdowns apiece in the second quarter, and the Ducks took a 21-14 lead into the fourth quarter.

Winlock quarterback Bryce Cline completed 8-11 passes for 173 yards, including TD tosses of 43 yards to Noah Patching, and 18 and 7-yards to Anthony Clevenger, who caught five passes for 103 yards. Cline also rushed 17 times for 96 yards including a 5-yard TD gallop. The Cardinals rushed for 236 of their 409 total yards, with Nolan Swofford rushing seven times for 61 yards. Logan Hall and Everardo Garcia added scoring jaunts of 3 yards.

Toutle Lake rushed for 159 of its 315 total yards. Taylor Lindquist had 20 carries for 133 yards, and Hunter Stout had a 1-yard scoring dive. Chase Hadaller completed 8-13 passes for 156 yards, including scoring tosses of 43 and 10 yards to Mike Adams, and 18-yards to Logan Grabenhorst.

On Friday, TL hosts Mossyrock, and Winlock travels to Toledo for the annual Battle of the Cowlitz game.
