I have lived in Longview since 1964. I have seen many changes — some bad and some good.

I am very concerned about the homeless problem. It seemed to escalate after the no-barrier shelter was closed in West Kelso. All of the people who came from all over to stay there were faced with nowhere to go.

We need to stop blaming everyone and work together to help fix the problem. That means police, first responders, social services, churches — the whole community.

If someone threatens others then that person should be arrested. We must all feel safe.

It is a complicated issue and we must all work together to help people help themselves.
