Although I'm not in total agreement, both the Lower Columbian Republicans United and Cowlitz County Republican Central Committee candidate endorsements emphasize values cherished by Cowlitz County citizens.
More populous progressive counties around Puget Sound repeatedly overwhelm our voted preferences for state initiatives and a slender majority of Olympian progressive lawmakers block legislation we favor and enacts what we oppose.
Imposition of anti-Second Amendment initiatives and the literally last-minute $26 billion-plus in bundled new taxes — both at odds with values of our voting majority — are examples of progressive statewide dominance.
Locally, however, we can avoid the social, fiscal and health crises currently experienced by municipalities, most notably Seattle, from ill-conceived, disastrous governmental policies by not electing progressive political soulmates campaigning in Kelso and Longview.
