In response to the article titled, "Betty Vilhauer remembered as genuine, community orientated leader," (The Daily News, Sept. 28) the board of Community Home Health & Hospice adds its voice to the chorus of thanks for her years of service.

Betty served on CHHH's board for nearly 40 years. She helped oversee the agency from its humble beginnings with four staff operating out of a small rented Longview office to almost 300 staff serving a four-county area.

Chief Executive Officer Greg Pang remembers Betty for bringing a critical sense of history to important decisions facing the agency, and for reminding us of those who provided early support to get the agency going.

In later years, when her health was failing, she stayed involved by reviewing all board materials faithfully and asking questions.

We remember Betty for being compassionate about the community, our agency, our staff, and for being a wonderful volunteer for almost four decades.
