You missed a great 3A volleyball tournament, TDN.

The Kelso girls upset No. 3 Eastside Catholic on Friday (Nov. 22) and played into the semifinal game on Saturday (Nov. 23), losing to the eventual state champion Mount Spokane.

The incredible bunch of Hilander girls went on to win their final game and claim the third-place trophy. Oh, and they also were recognized as an academic state champion at the tournament.

A big thank you to Bob Gaston for providing a picture to TDN of Friday's results so you had something to put in Saturday's paper.

Thankfully, the Columbian had great articles on the Highlanders tournament games in their paper. Maybe I should start subscribing to the Columbian.

Editor's note: With other games scheduled for the same weekend, unfortunately The Daily News did not have staff available to travel to Yakima to cover the tournament. We are working to resolve some of these scheduling conflicts. Our thanks to Bob Gaston for sending tournament photos.
