We may all welcome a small, $30 license tab but it is totally inadequate to maintain safe, efficient roadways.

I can remember paying $25 on a very plain, five- to 10-year-old vehicle while earning one dollar ($1) per hour. Minimum wage was less than that amount. With inflation, comparing to present day wages of over $10 per hour (this is below minimum wage) that would come to $250 for a license tab. This would be on an older, ordinary sedan.
