The steering committee for the coal health assessment made the correct decision to continue the process to produce a final HIA document.

Not too long ago, there was an attempt to construct a coal terminal at Port Westward, Oregon which was denied. It is very conceivable that there would be other future permit applications involving a coal terminal on the Columbia River in our area.

Since we share air quality, and watershed, a local health assessment document would be valuable to residents on both sides of the Columbia River.

Why squander the time and funds that have been spent up until this point to produce a draft HIA, when it would take very little effort to finish the project.

No matter what the status of Millennium's coal terminal application in the upcoming months, active or withdrawn, the Cowlitz County HIA needs to be completed.
