The following is a possible solution to the impasse between Congress and the president over border protection. Since the Border Patrol knows best how to spend the money appropriated for that purpose, let them decide how to protect the border. That would relieve both parties of the responsibility and the "wall" issue. If an agreement can be made to renew one of the previous bills passed with bipartisan support, the Border Patrol could be allowed to spend it the best way. Then the government workers could be put back to work and the agreement carried out later.
