A truck driver was killed Friday evening after his vehicle went off Mount Pleasant Road near Carrolls and hit a tree.
Richard Sedy, 66, of Castle Rock was driving an unloaded dump truck that belonged to his own company, Richard Sedy Trucking, LLC.
Sedy was taken in an ambulance to PeaceHealth St. John's Medical Center, where he later died from blunt force trauma sustained from his injuries, said Cowlitz County Coroner Tim Davidson. He died shortly before 7 p.m.
The cause of the vehicle running off the road is still unknown, though the vehicle was inspected and no mechanical issues were found. Sheriff's deputies do not suspect drug or alcohol use, either.
