DeeAnna Holland has taken a four-vote lead over Scott Peabody in the race for Woodland City Council position 5.
Wednesday night's count had Holland ahead, 402 to 398. (County elections officials don't expect to release Thursday's recount until the evening).
Holland had 50.12 percent of the vote, and the outcome will be subject to an automatic recount if further ballot counting does not change her percentage of the ballots. A mandatory recount occurs if the final difference between two candidates is less than a half percent.

Holland has argued that current city leadership has failed to support the police department. She said she ran on a platform of increasing city transparency, especially in the budgeting process.
Peabody also named traffic and infrastructure as his priorities, especially exit 21.
Ballot counting will continue through the week.
