Lewis River body

The body of a 56-year-old woman was found Thursday afternoon on the banks of the Lewis River near Woodland, according to Clark County Fire & Rescue.

Authorities do not suspect foul play, Sgt. Fred Neiman of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office said. However, the case remains under investigation.

Authorities are withholding identification until the woman’s next-of-kin have been notified.

The woman was found around 1 p.m. on the Cowlitz County side of the river about 100 yards upstream of the CC Street Bridge, Fire & Rescue spokesman Tim Dawdy said.

Authorities are investigating a possible link between Thursday’s discovery and the case of a woman who disappeared in the Woodland area Feb. 11, Dawdy said. The Woodland Police Department is assisting in the investigation.
