A Winlock man died Monday morning in a collision between two semi-trucks on Highway 18 near the Newberg/Dundee bypass, according to Oregon State Police.

At around 5:20 a.m., Daniel Green, 45, was driving westbound and pulling two trailers loaded with poultry cages when his rig collided with an eastbound truck driven Andres Resendez, 52, of Sheridan. Resendez was pulling two empty tanker trailers, according to OSP

Both Resendez and Green were declared dead at the scene.

A fire ignited from the crash. Another vehicle, operated by a 23-year-old McMinnville woman, was unable to stop and struck the back of one of the tanker trailers, according to OSP. She had minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Investigators believe icy roads contributed to the crash.

The Dundee Bypass was closed for several hours and reopened at 4 p.m.
