Tacoma Power is accepting grant applications to construct a public water access facility in the Cowlitz River basin upstream of the Toutle River.

Eligible project examples include docks, boat launches, beaches, trails, parking lots, restrooms, picnic areas or similar improvements, according to a press release. The grant would cover up to about $89,000.

Agencies, Native American Tribes, governments and nonprofit groups are eligible to apply. Applications are due by March 22.

The Water Access Evaluation Committee, comprised of representatives from Tacoma Power and several state and federal recreation agencies, will announce the grant recipient by June 3.

Application materials are available at MyTPU.org/Cowlitz. For more information, contact Cindy Swanberg at 253-502-8362 or cswanber@cityoftacoma.org.
