The Cowlitz County sheriff's office is investigating a rash of gunfire reported in the Coal Creek area early Sunday morning and is asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect or suspects.

No injuries were reported, but the gunfire left a "huge hole" in one man's front door and riddled a car with bullets.

Several 911 dispatch callers reported hearing gunfire around 1:30 a.m. accompanied by a passenger vehicle driving by. Calls came in from Woodside Drive and Coal Creek Road.

One caller reported several minutes before 2 a.m. that someone had shot his house and left a "huge hole" in the front door. A different Coal Creek neighborhood resident reported that his son's vehicle was shot at least seven times during the night. Another 911 caller reported a sign was shot.

Deputies are treating the shootings and related passenger car as one investigation, Sgt. Fred Taylor said Monday.

Anyone with information or video evidence of the shootings is encouraged to contact the sheriff's office at 360-577-3092 and reference case number A19-3229.
