The right lane of Interstate 5 southbound in Castle Rock reopened late Wednesday night with minimal damage to the overpass after a semi-truck struck it Wednesday morning, according to state highway officials.
The lane closed after the semi-truck became stuck under the Spirit Lake Memorial Highway overpass shortly after 7:30 a.m., said Tamara Greenwell, spokeswoman for the Washington State Department of Transportation.
The right lane was not fully cleared until nearly 9:30 p.m., she said. The semi was removed from under the overpass by midday, there was a delay waiting for a tow truck large enough to haul the semi away.

Greenwell said bridge maintenance crew assessed the overpass Wednesday and it appeared that the damage to the overpass was “minor and superficial.”
No further details on the cause of the crash or injuries were immediately available from the Washington State Patrol.
