A tractor-trailer hauling several cars reportedly caught fire shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday night on Interstate 5 near Kalama.
After flames were spotted coming from the trailer, the driver pulled over near exit 32 and unhooked the trailer, which was carrying five new vehicles, from the truck.
However, the fire spread, and both the trailer and the cars were completely engulfed by flames by the time crews from Cowlitz Fire District 5 arrived.

As the flames reached the fuel tanks on the cars, they began exploding, making the fire even more difficult to fight.
An overheated brake is suspected to have caused the fire. No damage estimate is available yet. No injuries were reported.
