The Salvation Army will have a grand opening and Red Kettle Kick Off at its Christmas Center at 961 Industrial Way in Longview on Dec. 2.
The event, which begins at noon, will also include a Kelso Longview Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting, according to a press release. The public is invited to attend.

The center is a place where parents or family members who are below the poverty line can get gifts for their children. Last year, the Christmas Center donated toys, clothing and other items to more than 700 families — for a total of about 1,500 children, according to the release.
The Christmas Center will start receiving donations and interviewing families on Dec. 3.
