Authorites have identified a Snoqualmie, Wash.-man as the suspect who allegedly fired a revolver at another driver near the Cowlitz-Lewis County Line Thursday afternoon.
Darrin R. Odell, 45, was booked into Lewis County Jail and is charged with first-degree assault and second-degree malicious mischief, both felonies. The Washington State Patrol also booked Odell on a DUI charge, WSP trooper Will Finn said.
Odell became irritated with another driver while driving intoxicated on southbound Interstate 5 near Castle Rock, Finn said. Odell then pulled up to the other driver and fired a round from his revolver.
The driver was not injured. He told police the shot left a hole in the side of his truck, however.
Officers recovered the revolver from Odell's vehicle, and the victim identified Odell as the shooting suspect.
Cowlitz Deputy Troy Lee spotted the suspect car on Old Pacific Highway near Burma Road — about 3 miles north of Castle Rock — and arrested the lone driver at gun point, the sheriff’s office reported. State troopers and Lewis county sheriff's deputies assisted in the arrest.
