A Cowlitz County sheriff’s deputy arrested a suspect in a road rage incident that occurred near the Cowlitz-Lewis County line late Thursday afternoon, according to the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect is 45-year-old Darrin R. Odell, of Snoqualmie, according to Washington State Patrol trooper Will Finn. He was arrested Thursday on suspicion of first-degree assault and second-degree malicious mischief.
The sheriff’s office received a call at about 5 p.m. that a man in a black car shot at another car during a road rage incident on Interstate 5 in the area of mileposts 58 and 59, which is in Lewis County.
Cowlitz Deputy Troy Lee spotted the suspect car on Old Pacific Highway near Burma Road — about 3 miles north of Castle Rock — and arrested the lone driver at gun point, the sheriff’s office reported. Washington State Patrol troopers assisted in the arrest.
Officers recovered a firearm from Odell's vehicle, and the victim identified Odell as the shooting suspect. A bullet was recovered from the victim’s car, according to the sheriff’s office.
No injuries were reported on the other driver, who said the bullet left a hole in his vehicle.
Odell was booked into the Lewis County Jail.
