The Port of Longview Monday hired a long-time railway professional to head its business team.
Christian Clay will serve as the new director of business development for the port. In that role, Clay is responsible for creating long-range business plans and managing the port’s commercial property portfolio and tenant relations, according to a port news release.
Clay brings more than 20 years of experience with BNSF Railway, the release says. He served as BNSF’s senior national account manager from 1997 to 2019, according to his LinkedIn profile.
His background includes experience with supply chain management, market research and customer relations.
“Clay is a strong addition to our team,” said Dan Stahl, chief operating officer for the port, in a prepared statement Monday. “His skill set directly complements our existing team and will allow the port to successfully meet growing business demands.”
The news release says Clay’s “high-level management focus” can help “grow cargo volumes and expand business opportunities in Longview.” He is also expected to “seek development opportunities” for the former Continental Grain Terminal at Berth 4, the release says.
He will work alongside Manager of Business Development Laurie Nelson-Cooley and Business Development Associate Lindsey Harris.
