A Longview man arrested on suspicion of stealing a cell phone Monday at the Hung Far Low restaurant was intoxicated and brandished a stun gun, Longview Police Department spokesman Corporal Tim Watson said Tuesday.
The weapon was not discharged at anyone, Watson said.
Chad Davis, 39, was booked on suspicion of second-degree robbery, resisting arrest and obstructing a law enforcement officer. Watson said police originally responded to a weapons complaint at the Longview restaurant.
Witnesses at the bar reported that Davis had a disagreement with a bartender, prompting an employee to tell Davis to leave. Davis then allegedly brandished a stun gun and threatened people in the restaurant, Watson said.
Watson said Davis briefly stole a cell phone at Taserpoint, which was later returned, and eventually walked out of the back door of the restaurant where witnesses saw him throw the stun gun into a nearby bush.
Davis remained in jail Tuesday afternoon in lieu of $10,000 bail.
