PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center is holding a free breast health screening event Saturday for women without insurance.

The event is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the hospital’s Kearney Breast Center at 1615 Delaware St. in Longview.

To be eligible for a free clinical breast exam and a 3-D digital mammogram, women must be uninsured, 40 or older, have no current breast concerns, live in Washington and qualify through PeaceHealth’s Breast, Cervical and Colon Health Program.

The program provides free screenings to low-income Southwest Washington patients who are uninsured, under-insured or have a high deductible for follow-up cancer testing.

The exams are designed to detect breast cancer at its earliest stages.

Women with insurance can also participate in the screening event, and PeaceHealth will bill their insurance company.

Those interested can call 800-992-1817 extension 1 to find out if they are eligible for the program or to pre-enroll for a screening. Callers are asked to provide monthly household income, social security number and date of birth. Citizenship is not required.

Refreshments will be served at the event. Interpreters will also be available as needed.
