One person is dead after colliding with a parked semi-truck early Friday morning on West Frontage Road in Kalama.
Kalama Police Chief Ralph Herrera said the small passenger car was headed south on West Frontage Road when it hit the rear of a truck parked legally on the shoulder of the road around 5:30 a.m. Friday.
The passenger car caught fire and Cowlitz County Fire District 5 crews responded to put it out.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, Herrera said. The truck was unoccupied.
Herrera said the driver's identity will be released after more investigation and notification of next of kin.
The Washington State Patrol is assisting Kalama police with the investigation.
West Frontage Road from Oak Street to Elm Street is closed. Herrera said it should open by about 10:45 a.m.
