May 17, 1954—Sept. 29, 2019
Ronald LeRoy Kautz, ‘Ronnie Boy,’ was welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven on Sept. 29, 2019. He was born May 17, 1954, to Ralph and Glenna Kautz. Ron grew up in Delameter Valley, Castle Rock with five brothers and two sisters. He attended Castle Rock High School. Ron worked at Weyerhaeuser for 45 years until his retirement in 2018.
Ron spent four happy years with his companion Sandy Herren. Sandy’s kind, caring support in the past months meant so much to Ron and his family. In April, they traveled to Alabama to visit his brother Cliff’s family. In August they made a trip to Alaska, where he fished with brothers Bruce and Curt. He loved to ride his Harley and looked forward to the ‘Biker Trash’ annual group ride. He especially enjoyed trips that included family reunions, camping, food and bonfires. He is remembered for his quirky jokes, truth be told he had his favorites written down, you were sure to hear them numerous times. They always resulted in much laughter.
He was a proud father and a dedicated Papa. He was very involved in all their activities, especially the Rodeos he attended in support of the girls. When they would pull into rodeo grounds, the kids would come running to hang out with Ronnie Boy. He was a big kid himself, so playful and fun to hang out with. Ron’s journey through this life drew him close to many friends. He had a compassionate heart and was there in a time of need. For years, Ron would make daily visits to his friend Kevin Lyons, who sustained a brain injury. As a result he became a beloved member of the Lyon’s family.
In May, Ron asked family to help him plan his 65th birthday, knowing it would be his last. This celebration brought more than 200 people to honor him on his special day. This was such a gift to this humble man. At the celebration, he wanted to take a moment to let everyone know of his decision not to seek treatment for his cancer. He announced to all that he was a saved man that would enter the kingdom of Heaven upon his passing.
Ron is survived by his companion Sandy Herren; his brothers Bruce Kautz (Patty), Clifford Kautz (Diane), Curtis Kautz (Jonna) and Edward Kautz (Linda); his sisters Lois Yeager (Dale) and Donna Gauger (Mike). Daughters Shanda Kautz (John), Tammi Edwards (Kevin) and Sammi Allison (Scott); grandchildren Connor Edwards, Laynie Stephenson, Shelton Kazeck and Paislee Taylor Richmond; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents and brother Duane Evans. At Ron’s request there will be no funeral, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Hospice Care.
