April 24, 1965 — Feb. 6, 2019
Mike Murray, 53, of Kelso passed away Feb. 6, 2019, at Oregon Health Science & University Hospital due to congestive heart failure.
He was born April 24, 1965, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to Roy and Patsy (Haybarker) Murray. Mike attended schools in Ridgefield, Wash., and moved to the local area 30-plus years ago, where he was a self-employed general contractor, known for his dedication and work ethic.
Mike enjoyed playing bass guitar (formerly in a Seattle band), making home brew, and time with family, friends and his dogs. He was happy-go-lucky, and had an infectious smile. Mike was a lot of fun to be around. He would do anything for anyone, without expecting anything in return.
On May 1, 1998, he married Patricia “Patty” Bodily in Kelso. She survives him at home. Also surviving are three sons, Chris Murray of Vancouver and Trevor Phillips (Brittany), and Corey Phillips, both of Kelso; two sisters, Anita Baker (Greg) of Renton, Wash., and Lisa Weaver (Dennis) of Vancouver; his father and stepmother, Roy and Patsy Murray of Mourpark, Calif.; three grandchildren, Nathaniel, Arianna and Royce Murray, all of Kelso; his dear friends, John and Deb Jenkins and David Ferrell, all of Longview, Lance Schmucker of Kent, Wash., and Steve Hamker and Nancy Swenson, both of Seattle; and many extended relatives, including his uncle, Dave Murray (Connie), and cousin, Jerrod Murray who offered their loving support during this difficult time.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Ann Murray in 1994.
Mike loved the outdoors and his ashes will be scattered in Montana.
“I wish I could turn back the clock. I’d find you sooner, and love you longer.”—Patty
