Longview utility crews will flush water mains Friday in the Olympic Addition neighborhood, according to a release from the city Public Works Department.
The work will begin at 6:30 a.m. and is scheduled to end by 4:30 p.m. The flushing area is bordered by 33rd Avenue and Nichols Boulevard and Ocean Beach Highway and Washington Way.
Water main flushing typically takes place at night, but the water department is doing it in the daytime as an experiment.
Officials advise residents to avoid using water during the flushing, which can stir up sediment that can enter residential plumbing. It recommends residents run their water through a hose or bathtub for a short time after flushing is completed prior to consuming water or washing clothes.
