The Longview School District will hold three bond information community forums over the next several weeks.
"It's a chance for the public to hear what the Facilities Advisory Committee is looking at for options for the capital bond, and it will give the citizens a chance to give their input about those options," said district spokesman Rick Parrish.
The FAC proposed three bond proposals to the school board in November, but the board is not scheduled to select a final plan until April.
Until then, the district is creating opportunities for the public to respond to the proposed plans, including at the following community forums:
• Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. in the Administrative Building (2715 Lilac Street)
• Jan. 30 at 5 p.m. in Mark Morris High School
• Feb. 5 at 5 p.m. in Mint Valley Elementary School.
District officials will also gauge public perceptions of the proposals with an online Thought Exchange survey, and community members can share their thoughts at board meetings or work sessions, Parrish said.
"Our goal is to engage and inform the community and give them a chance to be involved in the process. We will be using a variety of tactics to reach out and give people that opportunity," Parrish said.
Editor's note: The date for the first bond forum has been updated to the correct date of Jan. 24. An earlier version of this story had the wrong date.
