The Longview School Board Monday will hear a report on the district’s homeless student service program, which provides transportation and other help to homeless students.
More than 470 students are currently enrolled in the program, which connects them to services provided by social service agencies such a Lower Columbia CAP, Youth and Family Link and the Cowlitz Free Medical Center.
The program also “reduces barriers for students to participate in school activities such as sports and music,” by arranging transportation for students and allowing families to apply for funding to cover out-of-pocket activities fees, according to the district.
Also Monday, the school board is expected to adopt at budget development calendar to keep the budget development on track, according to the board agenda packet.
The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the School District Administration Building on Lilac Street.
