Police late Wednesday afternoon arrested a suspect who assaulted a loss prevention officer at Bob’s Sporting Goods earlier in the day, Police Corporal Tim Watson said.
Police initially responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery at the store, Watson said. After the assault, the suspect fled on foot for about a block before he was picked up by someone driving a car, Watson said. Police tracked the vehicle to the area just north of St. John Medical Center and found a person matching the suspect’s description in the PeaceHealth Lakefront Clinic on Kessler Boulevard.
Police are still searching for the driver and possibly others who may have been in the vehicle, but Watson said the scene is safe and there is no immediate danger to the public. The name of the assault suspect was not immediately available.
