Sheriff's deputies arrested a Longview man Wednesday on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle and unlawfully carrying firearms.
Around 6:30 a.m., Cowlitz deputies identified a Toyota Tacoma in the 8000 block of Ocean Beach Highway. Joshua Dean Bradley, 39, was attempting to fill the vehicle with gas with the help of the woman who owned the property the vehicle was parked on, according to a police report.
Deputies approached Bradley and the woman and patted them down, according to the police report. Bradley was carrying three, 12-gauge shotgun shells in his right front pocket, the report says.
Bradley told officers the pickup was a rental. While deputies searched the vehicle for the rental paperwork, they found a loaded zip gun in the console, the report says. Sgt. Corey Huffine said the gun was holstered, and officers suspect it was homemade.
Bradley, who is barred by a Wahkiakum County protection order from owning firearms and was required to surrender those he already owned, identified the weapon as his flare gun, the report says.
Officers booked Bradley with possession of a stolen vehicle, second-degree unlawful firearm possession and violating a protection order.
