Longview police say a Longview man who was arrested Saturday brandished a pistol at a woman he was dating and fired a shotgun into the air after she tried to retrieve her belongings from their house.
Following an argument between Natanel Kosydar, 31, and a woman he was dating, the woman went to retrieve her belongings from a house the couple both had access to, Longview police Detective Sgt. Chris Blanchard said. Two other men were with her.
Kosydar met her at the door, brandishing a pistol, Blanchard said, so she and the two other men went across the street from the house.
Sometime after that, Kosydar came to the front door of the house and discharged a shotgun into the air. There was no indication that he was aiming it at anyone in particular, and there were no injuries reported, Blanchard said.
Police are examining cellphone video taken by both parties, Blanchard said.
Kosydar was arrested on suspicion of three counts of first-degree assault and two counts of unlawful discharge of a firearm. He was ordered held at the Cowlitz County jail in lieu of $30,000 bail. As of Monday afternoon, the prosecutor’s office had not yet filed felony charges in the case; it has until the end of Wednesday to file charges or send the case to a lower court before Kosydar would be released.
