Marley and Luke

The owners of Marley (bottom) and Link, two huskies, say the dogs were killed in an apparent retaliatory shooting.

Longview police officers are still interviewing persons in the investigation of an alleged killing of two dogs earlier this month, and may have more information to release Wednesday, Longview Police captain Robert Huhta said Tuesday.

The Longview family that owned Marley and Link, 2- and 3-year-old huskies, believe the dogs may have been shot and killed sometime after escaping the family's home Sept. 6. They say the killing was possibly in retaliation for Link killing the shooter's cat roughly three or four months earlier.

In the meantime, Luke Moore, one of the dogs' owners, said Tuesday that he plans to hold a candlelight vigil for the dogs Friday. It will take place at 7 p.m. at the Coal Creek boat launch.

Moore said he has not yet found the remains of the dogs.
