The Longview City Council on Thursday will consider allocating up to $37,500 in Kuntz Family Trust Fund money to match contributions for the Shay locomotive pavilion.
The city has already received more than $10,000 in donations for construction of a pavilion to protect the restored 1924 Shay logging locomotive from vandals and the elements after the engine is moved to the Longview Library grounds. The pavilion’s cost is estimated at $75,000.
Ernie and Arleen Kuntz bequeathed more than $700,000 to the Parks Department in the mid-1990s, and the City Council recently established a policy for doling it out for parks projects.
The 7 p.m. council meeting is upstairs at Longview City Hall, at the corner of 15th Avenue and Broadway.
